[ In the meantime, Tolovir has indeed managed to find a horse. It is, frankly, more of a pony, but you know what? He'd been too terrified of the big ones to even try.

He looks a bit disheveled as he returns to the front of the inn. ]

[ He seems perfectly unharmed and very tired of thinking about horses. ]

I am ready for dinner if you are.

Yes, that would be... Good.

[If he sounds relieved, he is. Thank gods he isn't going to be asked to help with whatever got Tolovir ruffled. He motions for Tolovir to follow; not far, just a few buildings down to a tavern.]

It isn't much, but it'll doe for tonight.

[ Tolovir follows, then, taking a moment to rub at the bridge of his nose under his glasses. ]

... That's fine. As long as it's food, I'm not picky.

[He'll nod, opening the door. Thankfully there's enough diversity that a drow walking in doesn't cause any commotion. But it's still early so it's a bit sparse.]

Good. It's slim but hearty.

[ A bit of tension goes out of Tolovir's shoulders at the lack of reaction here. He just wants food and maybe a little alcohol. ]

What's on the menu here?

A lot of meats, some breads, ale. General basics.

[ He nods at that, moving to find a table. ]

Standard surface fare, then.

Yes. 'Surface' fare.

[Doesn't take long for someone to come by, and he puts in an order for something standard, looks to Tolovir.]

[ Tolovir requests less meat, and there's a rather long consideration of whether he actually wants the ale or not. But in the end he orders basically the same thing. ]

It's fine. I've been living on the surface for the last eighty-five years, anyway. I shouldn't even call it "surface" anything any more.

Quite a long time to be away from the Underdark, then. I don't suppose that was entirely by choice.

[hermit_crab]

No. Self-imposed exile. Recently ended. The group I was with ... they fixed things.

[ A mix of both ache and peace in that statement. ]

Mm. That's good to hear, then.

So now that it's fixed, you're returning home?

[hermit_crab]

[ Gods. Does he want to explain this. He will if Percy asks, but for now he decides to keep details light. ]

There were eight drow cities in my region of the Underdark. Seven of them disappeared a century ago. And my group fixing things has brought them back, but they haven't all been found yet.

[Despite however aloof he may have seemed before, he is actively listening.]

How many are left?

[ Tolovir ticks them off on his fingers. ]

Octantis was never lost. Heptantis was the closest to the surface and reappeared as soon as my group fixed the problem. Tetrantis was found out in the ocean; there's a couple shipping families reestablishing trade and helping reconnect them.

... I'm hoping to find Tridanis via Kraghammer. That leaves four after that.

[A theme. How quaint. But not for him to judge.]

Hopefully the city rebuilding trade can help push for routes to the other cities as you find them.

Yes, I hope so too.

[ He manages a soft smile. ]

I have a few friends who will likely help with that.

[At least ale gets brought down to them. Not his favorite, but it's something.]

How hard do you think it will be to find the others?

[hermit_crab]

[ Oh thank the gods. Tolovir takes a gulp - gags a bit - but is glad of the bracing liquid. ]

They're large cities, so you'd think it wouldn't be that hard. But the sheer variety of possible locations has made things difficult. And the current Underdark isn't keen on cooperating.

Yes, they're very protective even with the requirements gone.

[Siiiip.]

All the same. I hope you're able to locate them all.

Mm. Right. I have the rest of my life, so surely that's enough time.
