[ What countryside?? There's a question. Regardless of what the answer is, this drow is lost and muttering to himself, very much NOT heading in the direction he thought he was. ]
Weren't there supposed to be trees? I'm certain the forest was just over this ridge...
[You know? Normally this would be a 'not his business' kind of thing. But a Drow is interesting in this neck of the woods, as it were. And the others would. Probably appreciate him being helpful. Not like they're here to witness.
[It's late. Or early. The in-between place, Vex notes as she glances out the window of the keep's kitchen to note the moon's place in the sky. It doesn't matter, really. The point is, she can't sleep.]
Might as well make tea...
[She mutters aloud to herself as she draws water for the kettle. She's not being particularly quiet about it, but what's the use of having stone walls if you can't make a racket at four in the morning?]
[And really is it Greyskull Keep if only one person there can't sleep? Percy's at the table with papers and ink focusing while his sandwich slowly gets cold next to him when Vex walks in.]
[Vex reaches for a bow that isn't there, turning on her heel to see Percy sitting at the table behind her. Only once her brain recognizes friend from foe does she release that sharp inhale. As her heart rate slows, she relaxes, hooking the kettle above the stove and stoking the dying fire, her cheeks a little bit flushed from embarrassment.]
Scared the shit out of me. What do you mean, 'won't work'?
[He jerks a bit at the sudden movement, having been so focused. A testament to how much he trusts them all that he doesn't even keep Diplomacy within reach while he works out here.]
Just... [He gestures to the papers in front of him.] Trying to design something.
But he can at least see the issues with the design, the measurements aren't quite where they need to be for it to work and be comfortable for her to sit on.]
Well. You did ask for it, and it seems like it would be beneficial to you using it.
[It's a lovely day in Whitestone and Vex is looking for a terrible tinkerer. Fortunately, tinkerers are easy to track, especially when they haven't been seen for breakfast or lunch, and their chambers have a suspiciously un-slept in bed.
So, she does what any ranger worth her salt would do and wanders her way down to Percival's lab, giving a heavy knock on the door once she arrives.]
[It's a long few minutes before there's the sounds of the multiple locks being undone. And then the door cracking and Percy's head appearing, hair a bit tousled and face smeared with. The many different things he was working with (some grease, some ash smudge. Other chemical problems.) He looks a bit owlishly at her.]
[Oh, that's a look, isn't it? It's a shame that it's actually a good one on him. But that's not something to linger on at the moment. Instead, Vex arches an eyebrow at him in question.]
Aside from the state of you? Have you been down here all night?
[He stares at her a little too long trying to guess. He's smart, he can see how long her hair's been done and how worked her hands are, but he is not that wise.]
[Fortunately Vex knows how to remain unflappable under that kind of scrutiny, not that she minds it from Percy. She gives him a click of her tongue, teasing just a little.]
I'm afraid you're either too late or much too early with that guess. Try closer to midday.

no subject
Ah this'll probably bite him in the ass somehow.]
Which forest are you looking for?
no subject
Right up until he gets called out to, anyway, which makes him startle with yelp. ]
-- Who's there?
no subject
You seem lost.
no subject
I - I'm not lost. I'm merely taking a circuitous route.
[ A beat. ]
But if you can direct me towards the Star Mounts or the Great Forest, I can get out of your way.
no subject
I think you may have taken quite the roundabout way, as those are in a different country altogether.
I am heading that general direction though.

The saddle to your broom, actually.

She leans eagerly closer, definitely into Percy's bubble as she looks delightedly down at the plans.]
Really? That's wonderful. [It looks perfect, so far...his attention to detail is impeccable as always.]
I didn't think that was very high on your list of priorities.
